BIND - how to hide the version number

Here is your little tutorial that shows you how to hide the version number behind hide.
What is it good for? Some exploits or brute force attacks are just good for one version of bind (DNS), so why should we show which version we are using?

Ok, start your favorite editor (VIM, nano, pico) and load "/etc/named.conf".
Search for a line that start with "options", if you can\'t see it, no problem, we fix that too.

In case you don\'t have a line that starts with options add this to your named.conf :

options {
        version "not currently available";
};

...if you have the "options" line, just add
        version "not currently available";
at the end of the option section

That\'s pretty much it...
now restart bind and check if you can find the version-number.
